unable to backup

i hooked my iphone up to itunes hoping to back it up so i can try to jail break it and i don't have the option to back it up. I right clicked my iphone in devices and there is no option to backup. I went to preferences and I don't have a backup in there either im running 2.2 firmware for the iphone and the latest itunes does someone have a solution

It seems that you've previously disabled backups.

I did this before, and once I reinabled backups using a program I downloaded, the option appeared again.

Do you know what program that was. I too am unable to back up because I turned off that through a Terminal script.
