I have an iPhone X 256 gb running the iOS public beta. Every time that I’ve tried to backup to iCloud on the various beta versions, the backup does not complete. I assumed it was because iOS was in beta, but I have the same issue on the GM. I have 50 gb of iCloud storage, and I’ve never had a problem backing up under iOS 11.

Is this typical for the beta version? I want to make an iCloud backup under the 12 Gold Master and restore it to my new XS Max when it arrives. Should I downgrade to 11.4.1, backup and restore from there?

Maybe I just need to increase my storage to 200gb, but I’ve never had this problem on 50gb, and i have no other backups taking up my space.

Sorry for my confusion.

For me, iTunes has been saying 11.4.1 ipsw is corrupt. It also did not like restoring data to my iPhone after installing iOS 12. You are able to download the gm from apple's website if you have the link and you don't need a profile.

Mine had to do with my WiFi connection. I had to let my phone sit on the wireless charger for an hour and let it back it up. It finally worked and now when I backed it up again this morning, it took 8 minutes or less.

Well, keeping it plugged in to a charger seems to have worked. Thank you!

I’m not sure why my backup now takes close to 50gb unless it’s just the nature of iOS 12: iOS 11 backups were usually less than 20 go for me. I don’t see arhat anything has changed in the apps and other things (I don’t backup photos to iCloud) that I’m including in the backup.
