Unable to Connect to Wireless Network in XP (no problems in Mac)

Hey everyone,

I have read that people have been having some connectivity issues, and im yet another statistic. I was able to install XP without any (major) issues and now have it up and running but cannot connect to my wireless network.

I installed the Mac Drivers from the Leopard Install DVD and all that (bluetooth isnt working, but thats another problem). Now, it detects the hardware, and i can see that my network is an available network, however, i notice the option for the encryption is WEP, when my network is WPA. So when i try to enter my password (which is just something like 8 characters long) it says its an incorrect number/hex number. (obviously when its looking for a WEP encryption not a WPA encryption)

Does this mean its a problem with the windows software? I downloaded an update (through a different laptop) which ended up in me not being able to see any network devices in Network Places - upon removing this update that, magically returned. So does anyone know the correct patch/update for this??? Went through all this pain to play LAN/Online games, and its not working.. *sigh*

My wireless card is a Atheros AR5006X, and i have a MacBook 2,1 2.0GHz..

I have the same problem and thought it better to add here than start a new thread.

I'm trying to connect Windows XP on Boot Camp on Intel MacBook to my PPC G5 iMac with built in Airport Extreme.

I've googled for info but spent hours trying to no avail. Here's a specific question: in Sys Prefs > Network > Airport which option should wireless security be set at? I read about ASCII vs hex passwords and it's all greek to me. What should I enter in Windows for the 'Network key'. Entering the same as on the Mac doesn't work.

Can someone please put me (us) out of our misery. Baby steps will not be considered condescending for my part.

Is your network WPA2? Because Windows XP doesn't support that out of the box, you need to install an update for it to work.
