Hello everyone,

I am in need of some help, as I can't find an answer to this online...

I purchased a refurbished MacBook Pro from a company called TechVillage (I think...) on Ebay last year, and it has been great.

I noticed the other day that if I go to Finder>Network(Tab) there is a "network" displayed there with the name "hpd37b59". If I click on it, it says "Unable to connect" and I am unable to delete it.

Is this a source for concern? Could it be a way of the people who had this computer previously looking into the contents of my laptop/monitoring web activity and phishing? I didn't notice anything like that on my previous Mac. Is there a way to delete it? As it seems as though I am unable to do so...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

It appears to be a computer (or shared drive) on your network. It usually wouldn't show up if it is not actually on your network, but you could look at System Preferences > Users & Goops > Your Account > Login items and delete anything in the list that appears to be similar to the computer name in the screenshot.

If it is a computer on your network, press Connect As in Finder and enter local\username and whatever password you have on that computer.

Hey!

Thank you for the reply! I had a look, when I followed those steps, I couldn't see anything untoward. I have a simple home wifi connection, so no extra computers. Any ideas how this network could have got there?

I'm guessing that you have a HP printer on your home network... My Brother Laser printer shows up as brn_6cbe6f. Hope that helps!
