Unable to delete folders

I created a folder for a couple icons that I no longer need. Removing all the icons from the folder will not delete the folder. I tried removing the icons from the folder and then respringing, rebooting, etc, with no luck. The folder remains empty but will not disappear. I can rename it, add additional icons to it...and it continues to work fine. It just won't delete when empty. I also tried to empty other folders also, but with the same result. Any help or ideas out there? Thanks.
