I use a 5th generation 9.7” iPad, which I find perfectly adequate for my needs. I also sign up for Apple’s Beta Software program.

I’m running the latest Public Beta (17A5572a) but one of the issues I’ve been reporting since the early versions still has not improved - Photos app.

If I open Photos, select an image and click on ‘edit’, I get a never-ending ‘loading photo’ message. On the odd occasion that doesn’t happen, if I try to use the auto enhance feature, I get the same, interminable, ‘enhancing photo’ message. If I don’t happen to use auto-enhance then I click ‘Done’ and get ‘saving photo’ until I restart the iPad.

It must be getting close to being the final version now and I’m getting worried that, contrary to Apple’s assurances, the gen 5 won’t be able to run ios 13

Anyone else getting this problem?

You can if you click the “Albums” icon to the right of photos, than find your photo, click on same and in the upper right corner of screen you will see the edit button.

I’m having the same problem on both iPhone and iPad. Only on RAW files

I only transfer jpegs to my iPad, so I don’t know what it might do with RAW. I’ll give it a try later.

One thing about RAW is it’s not uncommon for RAW files from newer cameras to not be supported initially by a piece of software. RAW is not a universal file format, support for the RAW output of each camera is proprietary and sometimes a manufacturer will update their format for new devices which necessitates a refresh for photo editing software to support it.

iOS has supported the D850 NEFs for a while now.

Noted. Neither of you noted what camera you have so I was merely pointing out that what works for one may not apply to all.

True enough. Good point
[doublepost=1566840681][/doublepost]My phone is an iPhone 8 which has, as I recall the A11 Bionic chip. That’s a couple of generations on from the processor in the iPad gen 5. I think I’ll try iOS 13 on that and see what happens...

Not a new camera, Sony A6000, never had an issue with the raw files until latest update. Still works though LR Mobile but cannot edit in Photos

Having now put iOS 13 on my iPhone 8 and found editing in Photos to work perfectly well, if not particularly quickly, I now suspect that the iPad gen 5 is simply not powerful enough to run this app properly. Or, at least, not in beta form. Maybe improvements will come along - or I’ll have to buy another iPad (or stick with iOS 12).
