I am trying to install WSJT-X software on my Mac Studio. WSJT-X is software to enable your computer to do FT-8, and FT-4 digital modes in Amatuer radio. I have downloaded the latest Mac version. I am getting a shared memory error. This is a known issue. I have to make some entries into a Terminal session area, no problem. I typed in this command line;

sudo cp /Volumes/WSJT-X/com.wsjtx.sysctl.plist /Library/LaunchDaemons

Enter it than it asked for my password, which I entered, it than tells me it is the wrong password. ??? I am entering my Admin password, which works every place place else on the Mac Studio. It does not help when there is no echo of what you have typed. I even tried pasting it in, no joy. I am no spring chicken entering registry lines in a Windows machine. This is my first adventure into Mac's version of a registry. What in the world in going on.

This is what I am seeing.

That did the trick. Thank You! I am still a little hazy about were to use May Apple ID and the sign in for the Mac. One of the problems you have with Ham Radio software is unclear instructions.

Now I am waiting for a USB A to C cable to plug into the ICOM radio.

The AppleID and password is only used to sign into Apple services, like iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, TV, Music. The computer account password is used for anything related to machine privileges, like installing and deleting apps, files, security, login, settings, and the like.

Still learning. There is a big gap between my 40 years with PC's, and 6 months with a Mac.

It's certainly different, coming from a PC. But I think you'll get it just fine. I used Windows in a corporate setting. I had no admin privileges on the machine nor did I have any Microsoft account. I suppose the Microsoft equivalent of the AppleID is whatever Microsoft calls their services account. For example I have a Microsoft subscription for Office and I log in with Microsoft credentials to activate the apps and OneDrive. Then the Windows PC would have an account password for logging in, which would be the same as your Mac username and password.

It is coming along nicely. I have over ten years with iOS so macOS is not a unknown just a different dialect

Chabig, the info about the correct password you showed me in the Terminal is not to be found anywhere I looked on the net, even at the apple forums were people had this issue. Most of the responses were snarky and did not address the question. This again illustrates that MacRumors is the best place to hang out if you are into anything Apple. I have been a member for 13 years now. I did not visit much when all I had were iPod Touches. and iPhones but with the Mac Studio I came here to stay.
