I purchased a Late 2019 Mac Pro (12 core, 192 Gb of ram, AMD Radeon Pro Vega II 32 GB) in December, and it has been working perfectly with no changes in the peripherals connected since it arrived. About 3-4 days ago I found that the Mac Pro would not go to sleep when Apple>Sleep is selected. The cursor disappears and my Pro XDR display turns off as it should, but the Pegasus2 R6 and other hard drives that I have attached do not go to sleep as they have always done in the past.
Here are the steps that I have taken to try and solve the problem.
(1) I checked System Preferences>Energy Saver to make sure nothing was checked.
(2) All peripherals except the display and Ethernet were disconnected from the Mac Pro and the System Management Controller (SMC) reset by unplugging power for 5 minutes and then restarting.
(3) With all peripherals disconnected I started the Mac and immediately pressed command+option+p+r and held until the login screen appears to reset the NVRAM.
(4) With all peripherals disconnected I booted while holding the shift key to boot into safe mode.
(5) I set up a Guest User account and logged into it after booting the Mac Pro.
(6) I reinstalled the Mac OS by booting with Command R and installing the OS.
After trying each of the above, I attempted to get my Mac Pro to sleep, but it persists in not doing so. Frankly, I am out of ideas and have no idea why this Mac Pro which had been sleeping every time I selected Apple>Sleep suddenly now refuses to go to sleep.
I would appreciate any suggestions that you may have since all I can do now is to shut down my Mac Pro anytime I am not using it. Thank you for reading this and thank you in advance for responding.
