Hey there - just looking for some quick remediation.

I have an iPad Pro, last gen, and when I connect it to my LG Ultrafine 4K the iPad will charge, and the blue display adapter icon shows up on the iPad, but the display just won’t mirror the iPad screen. It will play audio through the monitor, though if i play something...

It works fine with my MacBook Pro. And the iPad Pro works fine with an hdmi monitor. I also tried an adapter and going through that to no avail.

I’ve tried restarting the iPad, plugging in to different ports, and then “fast switching” from the MacBook Pro with the video display to the iPad to no avail. I’ve also performed a factory reset on the monitor.

Any basic troubleshooting tips here?

I have a similar problem. When connecting the LG display with the iPaPro 4th gen using the LG Thunderbolt cable, a message pops up on the iPad saying that iPads do not support Thunderbolt accessories.
Any guidance will be extremely appreciated.

Just in case anybody else has this issue, I found the solution was to use the provided USB-C cable (*NOT* the provided Thunderbolt cable) plugged into one of the two Thunderbolt ports of the display.
I wish this worked for me, but never did. Tried 3 different cables. It only will play audio. Won't display video or the iPad screen at all :(

Hi … I trust you are having a fabulous day … I am experiencing “exactly the same issue” … Tried different ports on the LG Ultrafine 4K … Tried different cables and adaptors … Audio works great on the LG with iPad Pro 2018 12.9, but no video … Did you manage to find a solution? … I would really like this to work … Thanks for your help.

Hey there!

No solution.... I really let Apple have it though. I talked to a view service advisors and eventually got someone to actually investigate it past the dumb "have you tried restarting it?" and what they told me was that it's a known issue - at least that it's logged. Said that more people calling to mention it will make it higher priority.

I called, and told them that on their website that the LG Display was being advertised as compatible with the iPad Pro but it in fact isn't, and that's an issue. That seemed to work better than any other language that was used.

Oh, and if you have an M1 Mac the LG Screen Manager app isn't compatible either. Really screwed up. The monitor does work with an M1, just not the app that you use to update the monitor...

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. It sounds like you eventually “broke through“ the first-line of support defense and managed to get their attention. Let’s hope they either remedy the issue or at least remove the advertised text. Thanks again.

Yes exactly.

I do encourage you to also break through that first-line of support by calling Apple. The more customers that complain, the more priority the issue receives. Apple engineering is aware of it, but no details on when it may be fixed.
