Hi,

I have a 27" iMac which i got around 2010/2011.

The other evening i split the 1tb HDD into 2 partitions, i did this through disk utility on boot. I didnt touch the recovery partition. I went to do a clean install and when i was putting in my password for itunes to download the operating system, the machine crashed. I thought nothing of it and rebooted it.

Now since then, i cannot do anything. It wont boot at all. I have tried to boot it from the recovery by pressing cmd + R. I have tried cmd + P + R, i have tried to boot a clean install from a USB stick, DVD, external hard drive and still nothing.

The furthest i have got is getting the mac to recognise a USB stick has been inserted and running the OSX install from there, but that gets as far as a grey screen with a slightly darked error symbol where the mac symbol should be.

Please can someone give me some advice on what i can try as i am out of ideas?

Thanks
