Unable to make changes to music on iphone

Is anyone having problems making changes to the music already on their iphone? I tried renaming some albums that were already on there and itunes just won't sync/update my iphone to apply the changes no matter what i do. This never used to happen pre ios 5.0

Try restarting your iPhone / iTunes.
What if you add new music to your library, does it sync over?

Yeah that will work...so will deleting music. But for some reason none of the album renames actually update. The iphone will still read it as the old name so I have to delete them and then transfer them over again.
