I have installed 346.03.02f02 drivers for the 980 GTX in my 5,1 Mac Pro build. When I try to launch the Nvidia Driver Manager from the Preferences pane, I get a pop up error stating

"Unable to open the Nvidia driver manager. Please try again or re-install the Nvidia web driver package from the Nvidia website".. I've tried.. numerous times. NUMEROUS. I can't find any way to actually UN INSTALL the drivers to do a clean install either. This card is turning out to be the biggest $500 headache I've ever bought

Just started getting this too, after installing the latest Wacom driver. (no idea if they're related)
Hopefully just a bug in the latest release that will be fixed.

There should be an installation log somewhere. Can you check your /var/log/system.log via the Console app to see if any error messages are reported after the installation is done?

From the 346.03.02f02 web page, it looks like the uninstaller requires the Driver Manager:

To uninstall the NVIDIA Web Driver and the NVIDIA Driver Manager, follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Open the NVIDIA Driver Manager from the System Preferences or through the menu bar item.

STEP 2: Click on the padlock icon and enter an Administrator password.

STEP 3: Click the Open Uninstaller button.

STEP 4: Click Uninstall and then Continue Uninstallation on the Warning screen: The Warning screen lets you know that you will need to restart your system once the installation process is complete.

STEP 5: Re-enter an Administrator password and click OK. Once the NVIDIA Web Driver and NVIDIA Driver Manager have been removed from the system, click Restart.

The preference pane is at /Library/PreferencePanes/NVIDIA Driver Manager.prefPane, maybe just try manually deleting that folder and reinstalling?

system.log messages after trying (and failing) to launch the Driver Manager:

Oct 9 17:01:51 MacPro NVAgent[878]: Error: Failed to launch the NVIDIA Helper app (NO PROCESS)
Oct 9 17:01:52 MacPro System Preferences[874]: Error: Failed to connect to com.nvidia.nvagent
Oct 9 17:01:52 MacPro System Preferences[874]: Error: Failed to launch the NVIDIA Helper app (NVAgent: NIL DO).

Reinstalling driver didn't fix it.
Not a show-stopper issue as everything else is working fine, just annoying.

OK, I think I fixed it (?)

Navigate to:
/Library/PreferencePanes/

Open NVIDIA Driver Manager.prefPane

And it opened fine for me, now working in System Prefs too.

After all I'm still getting the same error. but after 10-15 minute it just works. When i'm turning computer on, i can't open the pref, panel, but after 10-15 min it works. don't know what is the problem but trying to ignore:))

I'm getting this too. Same error message - everything SEEMS to work fine - then just sorta kicks in after a while.
