Unable to pause and play YouTube using Airpods

I used to be able to pause and play YouTube movies by double tapping my airpods but i was not able to do so in the last 2 days. Am on iOS 11.4 and airpods are on the latest firmware.

Anyone encounters the same issue?

Have you tried unpairing and repairing to see if that helps?

Yes , I did that and it does not help.

I've had this bug for a while now.

It works, but on delay.... you have to wait ~2 minutes between pausing & unpausing via double taps.

It's pretty annoying & slack that either Apple or YouTube haven't addressed it yet...(I've contacted YouTube but got nowhere)...

Just remove one AirPod from either ear. Video will pause.
