I recently hacked my 3.01 ATV using the directions in this post:
https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/8992582/

I can ssh, hook up my external drive and watch avi files fine but wmv was no dice - so I added Flip4Mac per these instructions:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=724

Unfortunately I'm still getting a "format not supported" error when I try to play wmv files. :( I don't understand why since if I ssh and use "cd /Library/Quicktime/" then "ls" it confirms I have the Flip4Mac component (actually 3 - Import, Export and Advanced) in the correct location, along with Perian and AC3MovieImport.

I'm at a loss at this point as to why it's not working. These files play fine in Quicktime on my Mac btw. Of course I could convert using VisualHub but most of my non-Apple files happen to be wmv (downloaded off a website) so I've lost a lot of the point of having hacked in the first place. :( Arrgh.

Yes - finally managed to get NitoTV installed (if I wasn't in need of saving $ I'd have gone with ATVFlash by now) and am watching a wmv file now - looks great. :D Much appreciated!!!
