Unable to print from apps or pdfs.
You would think that something as basic as printing would be addressed.

Apparently this is a beta version?
No mention was made of this on the screen. If I had known, I wouldn't have upgraded.

We need more information. What printer? What have you tried? Delete and replace printer in Settings. Set it up as AirPrint rather than relying on manufacturer drivers. Reset the printing system…

Ah, I was wondering if I could continue on with this question, instead of starting a new thread, considering I am having awful trouble trying to get my MacBook Pro running Sonoma M2 to talk to my Epson Workforce WF-3640, please?
I have put the printer in the Printers and Scanners, but when I print (on any application) it just pauses the print job indefinitely, and then shows the printer as being 'paused' in the Printer and Scanner settings. Its doing my head in because I don't know very well how to navigate the settings (as opposed when I was working with my old Mac and it had preferences instead).
In my old Mac, I found that I needed to enable it in some sort of security setting (was a long time ago) to make this 'paused' orange dot status disappear, however I don't know how to find the same enabling security settings in Sonoma. I have attached a pic, which I hope is helpful in trying to figure out the mess that is my printing (or current lack thereof!). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! :)

Your printer has drivers for Sonoma. If you haven’t installed them, remove the printer from System Settings, install the drivers (Printer Driver v12.62+), then add the printer again.

When Sonoma detects a printer, it uses a built-in driver that is often non-functional. If you have manufacturer drivers, use them instead (you need to remove the printer and add it again selecting the driver manually, "automatic" always uses the one from the system).

Hi there bogdanw and pgolik, thanks so much for your replies.
bogdanw, I have installed the driver v12.62, however it still defaults to idle and fails to print, unfortunately.
I also tried to install the firmware update, however it gave me a message that it was not possible to do (my printer wasn't compatible with the firmware upgrade - not because it wasn't the right firmware, but something to do with the printer itself).
Anyway, I have removed the printer and cleared the print settings prior to re-adding the printer, restarted both the printer and Mac, and I still can't make the printer print, even with the new driver software (please see attached screenshot):

...I have a feeling it has something to do with the network (I have it plugged via ethernet cable into my modem/router, so it is available on the home network for all devices to print to), and I just can't figure out how to fix that - like I was able to fix it in my old Mac with the old 'preferences' system).. :(

Try to enable “Use Generic Printer Features”.

If the printer has a fixed IP on your network, you can try to add it by using the IP.
You should be able to set a fixed IP for the printer in the router settings.

Thanks heaps bogdanw, I have done both, and unfortunately turning on the Use Generic Printer Features didn't change anything, and when I add printer using IP details, the prints look like pages of lines of code, rather than a document :(
So I will try setting a fixed IP address for the printer on the router settings in a couple of days when Im back home :)
Thank you very much for helping me - I will post later about how it goes!
