I added a few VIP contacts a few years ago and never thought much of it because the stars never actually seemed too visible, but now in dark mode they're stark and obvious and I want to remove the VIPs I flagged. Not as easy as it sounds unfortunately. When I go into the VIP section of Mailboxes on my iPhone I can see the VIP List and I can with swipe to remove the people there or Edit and click the minus icon - but it doesn't retain that change.

Even after removing them, when I return to the Mailboxes list it shows an email count for the VIP mailbox even though there aren't any contacts flagged as VIP anymore. I can go into my other mailboxes for a few minutes and the stars will be gone, but in no less than 5 minutes usually everything will act as though I never did anything and the VIPs will be right back on the list.

I initially tried removing them on my iPhone XS Max on Thursday after iOS 13 came out and Dark Mode made the stars more obvious, but when it didn't work I ignored it as a goofy issue and figured it'd fix itself when I got my iPhone 11 Pro, but unfortunately it did not. Even on the new device now I am unable to permanently clear the VIP list and am at a loss for what to do.

Anyone else have issues removing a VIP and having it stick? Thanks. :)
