I am running os x 10.6.7. I did a verify disk and got the error that the disk needs to be repaired from the original disk. I put in the original disk held cmd c after a while the grey screen goes black and tells me to power off (kernel panic) I am told. Anyone got any ideas on what to do now? Computer boots fine from HDD but need to repair it.

Thansk:mad::)

Did you find an answer yet? What type of mac are you running?

If it still boots up off the HDD, I would try running fsck in single user mode instead of booting to the CD.

You have to boot from the DVD to repair the disk. Booting in single user mode won't help.

Important: If you're using Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you should use Disk Utility instead of fsck, whenever possible.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
If Disk Utility discovers any issues that require a repair, you will need to start up from your Mac OS X Install DVD and use Disk Utility on that disc to make repairs.
