Hi all i hope some on can help.

I've brought a second hand iMac 27" and i'm trying to install a fresh copy of Snow Leopard on it. It boots up fine into OSX although for some reason, it can see and connect to a wireless network but there not network connectivity (it does get the correct ip settings for our network)

So i go to boot from CD by holding the option key and it gives me the boot option screen. For some reason, the Macintosh HD icon on this screen is an image of someone in a Darth Vader costume. Not sure if this is relevant.

So i try to boot from disk and it seem to start loading on the white screen normally and after a minute or so seems to lock up. Please see screen shot attached.

Can anyone help? How the jeff can i reinstall the HD if I cant run the disk?

thanks in advance
