So I am following the directions on iclarified's website to update to 7.0.6 to update my phone by clicking Option+Restore and it says iOS software isn't compatible.

I have i5s CDMA (VZW) and downloaded the GSM+CDMA firmware. Do I need to completely restore to a clean state first?

Apparently downloading from iclarified didn't work. So I downloaded from iTunes and did it that way but by putting in Pwnage folder. Not that I think it matters. But I think iclarified's links are wrong.

If your phone is JB you cannot update the JB phone to stock ios.
You need to hit restore.
Itunes will then download the correct ipsw for you and do the rest.
You dont need to shift-option restore or download anything.

Ok, so really dumb question. Should I just update to 7.0.6 then jailbreak using evasi0n again?

You'd think I'd know this after doing this since the beginning of jailbreaking but someone always changes with each release.

Sorry for being, well, dumb. ;-)

Restore to 7.0.6, download the latest version of evasi0n (currently at 1.0.6) and jailbreak again

so you mean "Update" in iTunes, right? I don't wanna screw up since I'm still on 7.0.4.

No, "restore"

Once jailbroken, you can't use the normal "update" option as far as I know

Make sure to make a backup beforehand

Well, I'm not jailbroken any longer. I had to replace my phone today. Got a new one on 7.0.4. So, I can either jailbreak now and leave it be, or Update and jailbreak at 7.0.6.

So, just update from here?

All good! thanks!

I would recommend restoring the device to 7.0.6 over using update since I'm not sure if itune's update option is considered an OTA update or not

I pressed update and was able to update. Didn't seem to be a problem but I made a mistake though, because I meant to restore as new. Ended up restoring as new after I updated then rejailbroke.
