Hey everyone, I'm in DESPERATE need of help right now.

my friend is in the hospital, she is supposed to have heart surgery in a few days. I'm her medical proxy because all of her family is in germany. I'm supposed to fly to Denver in case something happens and I need to be there. Of course I have no idea what hospital she is in yet which is why I need to call her.

so here is what I know:

Texting her phone results in a reply saying "Your message could not be delivered. XXXXXXXXXX is not a valid wireless device"

Calling her phone results in a few rings and then voicemail.

I have tried calling and texting on 3 phones. My Iphone, my Sidekick II, and a friends Sidekick ID. All with the same results.

For some unknown reason I can still get text messages that she is sending out! It's been over 24 hours and she hasn't heard a thing back from me. Her texts are saying that she hasn't got a message, call, or voicemail for me yet. She also said she called but my iphone rings nonstop and never gois to voicemail. Thee text are also becoming increasingly frantic as she worries that I don't care about her.

I've spent hours on the phone with tech support and no one has ever seen this problem.

A wonderful rep from tmobile actually did me a favor and checked her account and saw that her provider is Cricket. I've never heard of them and it is impossible to get ahold of an actual person that works there unless you are already a customer. =/

Has ANYONE seen anything like this before? she can send data but isn't receiving any.

More than likely her number used to be a land-line, and a database hasn't been updated for that. Cricket is regional MVNO and not very reliable. See if you can send a message to her via their website or another providers website. Worst case, call her local police department and explain that you can't get a hold of her, but she can send txt messages to you and see if they can at the very least let her know that you can get her message and have her explain the problem. They can easily contact all the local hospitals to find her for you, then get back to you will which hospital so you can call them to speak with her.

sometimes carrier websites will allow you to send text messages through a web interface. I'm not sure if it will work any better than using a phone, but it could be worth a try.

Thanks TEG,

I just checked Cricket's site and online texting is still offline. (I checked around 9pm last night as well)

so I tried using AIM to send her a text and got the same response.

I'm thinking that contacting the police is the best option I have right now =/
