I’ve tried googling a fix for this but the recommendations I’m getting aren’t working. Does anyone know how to sync contact names to iMessages instead of just their phone number? I’m on a 6th generation iPad iOS 12.2, any help is appreciated, thanks.

1. Open “Settings” on the iOS device and tap on “Messages”.
2. Scroll down and tap on “Receive At” which is usually followed by a phone number or email address.
3. Tap the “Use your Apple ID for iMessage” button at the top and sign in.
This ensures your Apple ID is being used for iMessage, you’ll want to make sure the phone number and email address you intend to receive iMessages at are correct.

Thanks for replying I am already signed into Apple ID. I’ve tried unsyncing and syncing contacts as well but it did not work.

There's another recent thread on here with a similar issue (unresolved).

Is your iPad your personal one or is it company owned and controlled by an MDM system?
