I opted out of the Catalina Beta when it came out and I didn't get the regular update. I tried to go to OS recovery, but all that wants to do is install the same version of the beta. Could I backup the machine and wipe it and restore it after I install Cataline from a thumbdrive (or would it again restore to Catalina)?

Just reset the Software Update settings to default and then go to the Mac AppStore and download Catalina. It will download the whole 8Gb and then install it over your existing installation. AFAIK there is no OTA from the beta to the final version.

Thank you, that worked, this is my first MacBook, so I'm getting use to it. Thought it might be similar to how iOS works.
