Messages are not downloading from icloud drive and messages are not synchronizing. When trying to delete messages in iCloud storage, the warning "Unable to update iCloud settings at this time" error in the picture I added appears. I have tried all the solutions including hard reset with iTunes, installig ipsw file with DFU Mode etc...
And you need to know:
- There is 4.5 GB of free space in my icloud storage.
- 150 mb of messages data appear in the icloud storage.
- I reset the phone many times. (A1778)
- I installed different ios versions. (With downgrade tool and iTunes: iOS 13.5, 13.6, 14 beta 3)

Something going on with iCloud sync because all devices I’ve restored in the last couple days are having issues with sync.

I only have an apple device and this has icloud message sync issue for five days. All Apple services seem to work but I think there is a problem with apple side.

I thought I was the only one, I have been having this since this weekend. Gone crazy spent hours and hours restoring the iPhone and nothing worked. I even thought of creating a new Apple ID. I have spoken to an Apple engineer that was dealing with my problem and just notified me that this is a known issue with other people and it will be fixed on the next iOS release. Hopefully soon.

Apple engineers are still reviewing analytics data!.. They still haven't found a solution.
I guess they got stuck like iCloud messages.

I am glad to see that I am not the only person here having an issue with iCloud message syncing. I restored my iPhone last night because it was having major WiFi issues after updating to 13.6. The restore fixed the WiFi issue, but I am unable to sync any of my iCloud messages to my phone - hopefully this problem is fixed in the near future.

I can’t remove my messages from iCloud iOS 13.6
Same with me. I started having all of these issues including the endless “downloading messages from iCloud” loop when I restored from an iCloud backup. I had the same issue when setting up as new. I’m still waiting for an Engineer to follow up with me after 2 hours on the phone with a senior support specialist.

This issue occurred after updating to iOS 13.6.

I reset the phone on itunes with dfu mod. I updated to ios 14 public beta 2 and reset it again. Then I installed iOS 13.6 again. After that downgrade it to iOS 13.5. Now it is on iOS 13.6. I set it up as a new phone in every installation and I didn't install it from icloud backup. and the problem was never solved. you understand, my icloud account doesn't work well.

Apple engineers have not been able to solve the problem even though many users have reported it. Unfortunately they suggested that I use my secondary account. They said that a new update would be made to fix the problem. but i have no hope.

Would this be an issue with the Apple ID? I really hope a fix is in the next iOS 13 update or iOS 14 PB. Creating a new Apple ID is not a resolution in my opinion.

You are right this an Apple ID problem. I installed iOS 13.5 and this problem was not solved. But I did not see the same problem when using my other apple ID.

my opinion is this:
when we disable messages it stays there for another 30 days to delete. And when we activate and deactivate repeatedly, deleted messages cause a strange problem in icloud. I think, after 30 days, the messages will be deleted and the problem will be solved by itself. I hope.

That makes total sense. I would think with all of the calls into Apple Support, the Engineers would know how to manually “clear” the error to eliminate the 30 days. I’m still waiting to hear back from an Engineer. They sent me an email saying they’d be in contact with me for additional information. I’ll update the thread if and when I hear back from them. I’m not optimistic at this point.

Perhaps Apple engineers may not delete icloud messages due to their privacy policy.

Waiting for your updates...

I’m glad I found this post and also a bit upset. I had to do a factory reset on phone for non iCloud issues. But now I’m having iCloud issues. iMessage in the cloud doesn’t work. It won’t let me manage storage and delete the existing messages stored on iCloud. When I try to activate iMessage in iCloud it gives an error. Did a restore for my friends MacBook and his iMessage and FaceTime won’t authenticate on the Mac but works on his iPhone. Even created a whole new Apple ID and still the Mac won’t authenticate. Any ideas out there?

I think they fixed it? My messages are no longer showing updating and everything is syncing. Try logging into icloud.com?
