Unable to update to beta 2

couple oddities

When I boot up my Mac it shows the Mojave desktop until I log in then it switches to Catalina.

Once I log in it and do system update it prompts me to install the Catalina beta, but doesn’t seem like it recognizes it as a beta 2. After tying to run that for a few minutes I get could not create a Preboot Volume for APFSinstall".

I tried running first aid on both the main partition and data partition. Anything else I can try?

I had same issue - run first aid via disk checker on both volumnes - it worked after that

I had the same issue and disk utility solved it.
