iPad Pro Unable to use the touch screen of M1 iPad Pro 12.9 when using sidecar

Hi, I am connecting a M1 iPad Pro 12.9" to a Mac mini via Sidecar. It is in mirroring mode. Although I can use an Apple Pencil to interact with the screen, the touch screen does not respond to my fingers. Also, a large black border shows up on the left of the screen with some icons. Are these two the limitations of Sidecar?

You can hide the side bar from the display settings on your Mac.

No, you can only scroll with 2 fingers and pinch to zoom, no other touch interaction (because of Apple's phylosophy of "MacOS is not made for touch").
You can have touch with third party apps (not free).

I tried his method but doesn’t work. From the comments, it looks like Venture places some restrictions. The part on shortcut is a bit strange. Where does it tell the key combinations activates sidecar?
