Guys, I need a bit of help please.

I have 5 user accounts on my MacBook Pro M2 running the latest Ventura (I know, I know. Large family 😆 ) But all of a sudden, the last user on the list of account can no longer use the trackpad at all - it doesn't move or click. But they can use my Magic Trackpad without any issues.

Before removing and re-adding their account, is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?

UPDATE: I'm now randomly unable to move the cursor on my account too! Grrrrrrrr! Another Ventura thing???

This sounds like it might be a hardware problem.

Oh oh! Really don't fancy going down the repair route.

I ended up deleting and readdi g my mum's account and all seems to be well again. My account is also OK now.

I'm going to test this over the next few days and see how it goes. Could a software glitch cause the cursor to fail?

Even though you seem to have "fixed" the problem for now, keep a close eye on it.
If it occurs again, and you come to the conclusion you have to "take it in", you want to do so before the warranty ends.

Thank you. I spoke to the company I bought it from and I have a warranty until February 2024.

The downside is, I'd have to return the laptop then wait till they test it. If they can't detect what right now seems to be an intermittent fault, they'd simply return the laptop to me. I'd also be without the laptop for up to 4 weeks.

But fingers crossed this is simply a software glitch 🤞
