Unbearably slow and laggy Safari on El Capitan

Hello!

Has anyone else experienced severely handicapped Safari performance on El Capitan lately? It seems to slow down significantly as soon as you open a few tabs, especially when some of them have flash content (Youtube etc.). Even typing is often not fluent.
The problem is more pronounced when I have some other software running in the background, such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D modeling software... I haven't experienced such problem before I upgraded to El Capitan.
I'm currently running version 10.11.1 on a late 2013 15" MBP with 2Ghz i7 and 16GB of RAM (which should be plenty for some light multi-tasking.

Flash does that. Turn it off or use Click-to-Flash or similar.

I am not certain it's only Flash. I don't have Flash installed and I'm having similar issues even without extensions. It doesn't happen in Yosemite or Mavericks Safari so I suspect there is a bug in El Capitan Safari or in the Webkit.

I haven't been able to fix it despite doing all usual troubleshooting steps. Since I currently use El Capitan only for test purposes I am content to wait until Apple fixes the problem.

Well ypu referred to Flash content...? Are you saying it slows down, especially on pages with Flash content even if you don't have Flash installed?

10.11.1 worked brilliantly for me, when I updated to 10.11.2 I started having a bit of the lag issues/beachballs you describe in Safari (and overall). Tried a few different things like disabling what few extensions I had, freeing up more HDD space, and closing some other programs (itunes/spotify) and it seems like it is running a little bit better now, but I am still trying to work out the kinks.

Still trying figure out what caused (or are causing) some of my issues from .1 to .2

I have the same issue. Safari 9 lags ... Google maps doesn't work well and also ping is too slow. See the speed test result. Safari gets 29ms ping vs Chrome gets 1ms in the same computer.
