iPod Understanding iTunes Home Sharing Feature

Hello,

MY brother has recently moved in with me. We both have separate iTunes accounts on our own Macs, and we both own iPads. He was living in the US, and thus his account was with the US iTunes store, and as such he had access to much more iBooks content than is available in Canada. Is it possible for me to gain usage privileges to these iBooks using the home sharing feature of iTunes? Would that shared content be available to our iPads?

You probably don't need to use Home Sharing.

You can authorise a computer with more than one Apple ID, so just add his to your computer and then you should be able to play his documents, access his Apps and (I presume) read his iBooks. You just need to add them onto your iTunes.

The only question I would have is whether his being a US account would be a problem, but I don't see any reason why it should.

One word of warning though, it can cause some confusion with App updates. My wife and I had separate iTunes accounts and we did this so she could access my content. However, she ended up with problems updating her apps as you have to keep logging in under the different names. We ended up scrapping her ID and rebuying about £10 of Apps to avoid this.
