I just bought Apple's Magsafe Battery Pack and I'm wondering all the different ways I can charge it. Here's what I've come up with:

[using 1 charger]
1. Plug into battery pack, and battery pack and iPhone charge simultaneously (Apple recommended approach)
2. Plug into iPhone, and iPhone charges, but battery pack will not. (Is this actually true? An Apple rep told me this today...)

[using 2 chargers]
3. Plug 1 charger into iPhone, and another charger into battery pack (What happens here?!)

Would I damage the battery pack or my iPhone with approach #3? Unfortunately, approach #2 (Apple's recommended) means the iPhone charges at a much slower rate than with a fast charger plugged in, right?

Thanks :)

You can do #3, and it won’t damage anything, but what would be the point?

I dont get Number 2. Plug into iPhone and iPhone charges but Battery Pack will not. As in use the Lightning Cable to charge the iPhone and not the Battery Pack?

i usually use Number 3. As Battery Packs are for emergencies only.

Number 1 actually seems kinda dangerous as charging the Battery Pack while having an iPhone on top of it creates a lot of heat.

Yes it creates a lot of heat. I don’t recommend #1. As for #2. If you place the magsafe battery pack and plug in the phone port, it will charge both the phone and the magsafe battery pack via reverse charging.

woah,so its like the iPhone is charging the Magsafe Battery Pack via reverse wireless charging? thats nice but sounds dangerous as well xD

It is simple.

cable -> pack -> phone : phone charges at 15w & pack charges as well.

Cable->phone -> pack : phone charges at speed of adapter and pack charges wireless from phone
