Right. I did not have my bookmarks including in icloud syncing, but because I got a new machine wanted to do so. So I went to iCloud settings and clicked on Safari to activate that. However, instead of pushing my machines bookmarks to the coud, it downloaded an older set of bookmarks from iCloud and i've lost my up to date bookmarks.
Is there a way to undo this ?

Edit: Ok I recovered the bookmarks.plist file from a timeMachine backup, and turned off the icloud sync. But how do I turn iclodu sync back on and make it use the machines bookmarks as the default ?

Here is what I would do. Open Safari and in the File menu go to Export then export the bookmarks as an html file. Then turn on iCloud sync and lets it sync up. Then in Safari go to Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks and delete them all and wait for that change to sync up. Now import the Safari Bookmarks.html file you exported earlier.

Tried that and it didn't work.
What did work was to update from OsX11.6 to 11.6.1, and update Safari. Must have been a bug! Edit: Nope that didnt' work either it changed after a few minutes 🙈 When I try your approach - it simply does nothing. The bookmarks don't change to the imported ones.
Thanks for the suggestion!
