Undocumented way to invoke multitasking app switcher

Maybe I just missed this, and it has been covered somewhere, but this was unexpected to me. In iOS 10, on my 7 Plus, if I force touch the left side of the screen, it brings up the multitasking app switcher, similar to double tapping the home button.

Has anyone noticed this before? Not only is this quicker and easier, but it eliminates the need to use the home button.

I tried on my iPhone 7 and I see it.
 
Yeah its always been one of those things 3D Touch can do. Also shows the issue of 3D Touch. You cant tell when it works.

5 people i know of who have an iPhone 6S or 7 didnt even know 3D Touch was a thing. I showed them and their head basically exploded lol. Same with the force touch on the keyboard to move the cursor thing haha
 
OMG, I didn't know about moving the cursor! That is so awesome!

Yeah, there is no way to know all of its implementations unless you're told or stumble upon it by accident.

Any other cool force touch tricks?

It's a neat feature, and I'm pretty sure it was one of the points in the keynote when 3D touch was introduced because I distinctly remember thinking to myself that it was a feature that would be used for the home-buttonless iPhone that is/was sure to be introduced.
 
I loved this feature when I had a 6S -- could easily switch back to Waze after taking a call in the car. Now, with the SE, it's not so easy...
