if you can find an old version of norton (www.otherworldcomputing.com has them for a cheap price every once in a while) you should be able to use it in os9 and still recover files from the disk. this will not help if you need to recover files in the near future, but 10.3 is rumored to have some kind of file-recovery capability (named junkyard) built in.
