Hello everyone,

After dropping my iPad air 2 while it was inside the backpack, on the left side of the screen has uneven backlight, as you can see in the picture. All screen functions are normal, multi touch works well, color still accurate, no crack on screen. Apple service center told me to replace the whole screen, which would cost me a brand new iPad. I don’t think the lcd panel itself has any problem. What do you think about it? How should I repair it? Thank you very much!

I think that the display needs to be replaced. The backlight is probably just one part of the display component and Apple just swaps the entire display. So does anybody else most likely. So the options are either Apple or a third party repair service or a new device.

They quoted me almost 300$ for a screen replacement here. Guess I’ll try to live with it then :(

If there is no outward physical damage, I would see if you can convince them to give you trade in value to put towards a new one. You used to be able to get I think $150 for Air 2, so take that off the $329 for a 32GB thats not a bad deal considering you get pencil support and a much faster chipset.
