(Unfixable) screen woes with 10.5.5

The screenshots posted on that thread at the Apple forums do not look like a software issue to me. Those were the exact sort of graphical artifacts I experienced on my 20" Core Duo iMac (white) when its logic board went bad.

It could very well be a hardware issue. I know you say these problems only cropped up after installing 10.5.5 but I think that might just be a coincidence.
