I've upgraded a handful of the older models (pre 2010), even the core solo to a core duo CPU. ;-)
I think I got the HD to SSD upgrade down to about 15-20 minutes at normal pace.
Well, recently I dove into the unibody for the first time.
It's a 2010 model. I used the fixit guide. Found few errors in it I thought but overall it was just a one step at a time thing.
I think what helps is to have good tweezers etc to be able to properly pull the little drive and fan connectors and understanding how that cable interfaces with the socket.
So just throwing it out there. If you were hesitant, take your time. Mark the screws from each "step" and you can do it.
At some point I'll be upgrading my 2012 i5 (with it was the i7). I need to figure out if the hard drive is in the "lower" or the "upper" bay to obtain the other ribbon cable set.
Cheers.
Happy Friday.
