I've noticed on my iPhone that some apps are starting to display emojis that I haven't seen before. But sometimes I still receive messages from friends that only show up as a black rectangle with a question mark inside – a missing emoticon. On my computer (Last Yosemite) I get the same question marks, and, an even smaller collection of emojis that I could myself type.
I don't care so much about the question marks, they're merely a minor annoyance. But I use emojis to "sort" and "tag" information in my own workflows so getting the new ones to work on my computer could be a nice addition. However, due to the mayhem that the newest OSes have turned into, I have no interest in upgrading the entire system beyond Yosemite. Are there any ways to obtain support for the latest Unicode version only? Some sort of separate download/package.
