I uninstalled aurora feint due to the fact that despite 2 updates, it still will not launch on my iphone, always crashes back to the home screen on their splash screen. So finally, after reading about some other complaints here about memory leaks and people being forced to restore and stuff i deleted the app.

Prior to deleting aurora feint, my itunes backups would take upwards of 4 hours, and now everytime with aurora feint off my iphone backups only take about 20-30 minutes.

If anyone else has ridiculously long itunes backups and has aurora feint installed, try to uninstall it and see if your backup speed increases dramatically.

IMO backups should not take longer than 2-3 minutes whatsoever.

i agree, however opinions aren't going to make backups any faster. what i'm trying to determine is if deleting aurora feint will.

4 hours!?! That is way too long. I have aurora feint installed and my back ups don't take more than 5 minutes.

Agreed, i have Aurora Feint and a large number of other Apps and the longest back up I've had was 10 mins but usually it's 2-3mins, 5 mins at the outside.

Before we can state that Aurora Feint is to blame, reinstall it and see if back ups take forever and a day again. If they do delete it and see if they are speedy. It is the best way to see if it is Aurora Feint's fault, and if it is notify the maker that way they can check to see if there's a bug.

At 24MB+, AF is one of the largest apps in the store (Beatmaker is a whopping 120MB!). Most apps are only a few meg. It could indicate your USB connection is a little dodgy if it takes so long. The 'Other' (orange) portion of my iPhone is 600MB, I suppose a full backup is backing all that up.

I have two Macs that I do backups on, a Mac Pro and an iMac. On both it takes about 20-30 minutes to backup. It just takes time to backup so much as you said.

I had the "backup taking forever" problem until I deleted the backup and started over. The first new backup took forever, but subsequent backups have been very speedy, five minutes at the most. And yes, I do have Aurora Feint, and have been playing it regularly.

My backups are dreadful, currently half way through and it has taken at least an hour and a half, probably longer.
I thought the new release would fix it, but no change if anything worse.
I always let it run as i cancelled the backup once and then my phone died and i could not restore, but it is getting to the point where i cannot use my phone for 3 hours a day whilst it backs up!! (if you get a call in the middle of a backup it just cancels it).

Very frustrating!:(

Another thread suggests that slow backups may be because iTunes is sending crash reports from the phone to Apple.

Since you've said that Aurora Feint always crashes on your phone, maybe it's been generating lots of crash reports which in turn was causing the slow backups.

But that doesn't explain slow backups for some people who don't have Aurora Feint installed.

But it does- *any* application (or multiple apps) that's generating lots of crash reports could be clogging up your iphone and slowing the backup process. I had one backup yesterday take 4 hours, and today the thing took about 10 minutes to back up even though I installed like 7 new apps. For the record I do have Aurora Feint installed too, it is not the direct cause of long backup times (except for apple crash logs as mentioned in previous posts).

I have Aurora Feint on my iPhone, along with a number of other large apps.

My backups were taking 2-3 hours before the recent firmware update, after which the first backup took 2-3 hours and then they were a lot quicker - from 1 to 30 minutes. I'm guessing they changed it so that only updated files are backed up now - it looks that way from looking at the actual backup files.

If your backups are still taking a long time, make sure you've got the latest firmware. If that doesn't fix it, take a copy of the iPhone backup then delete it so it starts from scratch. If that doesn't fix it, try removing and then installing all your apps again. If that doesn't work, you're on your own.

There does still seem to be some bad bugs in Aurora Feint though, its definitely a lot better at the moment but something isn't right. It still crashes a lot and I'm suspicious its doing something else weird - my iPhone is occasionally getting really hot and staying hot and the battery runs down quickly and I'm certain it is happening only after I've been playing Aurora Feint.
