Is there a way I can completely get rid of MySQL without leaving anything behind? I was trying to install it because I've started to play around with django, but I ran into some problems, tried reinstalling it a couple times.. ran into more problems.. I'd like to just wipe it clean if that's possible. Right now under Sys Prefs, when i hit the button to start the server, nothing even happens and it still says "stopped."

btw I'm very new at this..
Thanks!

I think you may find this site to be helpful: http://hivelogic.com/articles/2007/11/installing-mysql-on-mac-os-x

Pay particular attention to the part about existing MySQL installations.

I have installed MySQL on a number of machines running OSX and they've all been a pain to get running. The Leopard installation was particularly fun as I learned a few new swear words (made them up?) during the process. The whole "/tmp/mysql.sock" thing is always a real joy.

But once you get it going, it's great for development purposes among other things.

Good luck!
