But on iPads the UI is different, you have access to the categories in the left-hand side of the screen. No, if you go to Settings-General-Storage and go to an app, you can’t swipe back to General from the app. You can on iPhones though. I assume that’s what you mean? I had never noticed that! I’m accustomed to hitting the button on the top left on iPads and only swiped back on iPhones.Only in Safari, or also in standard table-cell-UI apps, like Settings or Mail? Couldn‘t get that to work yesterday, when testing various iPads at the Apple Store…
Yes, that‘s exactly what I meant. That‘s unfortunate. Thank you.But on iPads the UI is different, you have access to the categories in the left-hand side of the screen. Do you mean navigation between apps or within apps?Hi there,
does iPadOS have universal „go back/go forward“ one-finger swipe gestures like iOS (swipe inwards from left or right screen edge?
Thanks,

You absolutely can swipe back to a different app.Yes, that‘s exactly what I meant. That‘s unfortunate. Thank you.
The nice thing is that it is not limited to just the most recent app. You could swipe and move back 2 or 3 apps. That makes it more flexible. You absolutely can swipe back to a different app.
To try, open an app from the home screen, swipe up on the bar at the bottom to go back to the home screen. Open another app. Now, instead of swiping up on the bar at the bottom, swipe left to right. It'll take you back to the app you had open prior.
