Hi all,

I was so anticipating Universal Control, but since Tuesday until now I did not get it to work properly.
And since nobody in this forum - or the entire internet for that matter - seems to have the issues I have (my Macs have ... ),
I had to post this in search for help.

Details:

I have two Macs: An iMac (Retina 5K, 27-Inch, 2017) and a Mac mini (M1, 2020).
The computers are about 1 meter apart from each other (3 feet ... ?).

Both can handle and let me activate UC, both properly updated, Wifi, Bluetooth, Handover all set.
They recognize each other, I get the UC
screen arrangement option in display preferences so far all as it should be.

But when I try to move the mouse cursor over it gets stuck at the border of the screen. (I recorded a video which I try to insert at the end of my post).
There is a reaction on the other Mac, but only maybe two rows of curser pixels show up. I cannot move the cursor any further. If I move it away and come back, you see the cursor on the other Mac jumping to the same height (different display sizes, so "almost" the same height).

I realized, that I can keyboard the other Mac from that moment on, as there was some sort of control handover. Just the cursor won't budge a bit.

It is the same with both Macs, no matter from which side I try.

I had both machines run in safe mode, but the result is exactly the same. I unplugged mice and keyboard, the result is the same.

Any suggestions? Reinstall over existing systems? Fresh install (Don't want to ...) ?
Wait for the next update to UC?

Thanks a bunch for reading this.

Cheers,
Uwe

Hi uew,

Yes, it appears that the Beta UC is truly beta, as there are a number of issues that have arisen for a plethora of people.

I have found that executing the Terminal command, "$ pkill -9 Universal\ Control" or "$ killall -9 Universal\ Control", clears up issues like you're experiencing on my own Mac-to-Mac UC troubles.

Good luck,
Solouki

Nope, deleting is not an option.

What I found out: It works fine with a bluetooth mouse.

The problem mentioned above only occurs with wired USB mice.
