iPad Universal control? With MacBook off?

Is it possible to not have my MacBook Pro on while i use the same magic keyboard and trackpad?

Id like to use the trackpad with the iPad without the screen being on for my MacBook Pro. I always have my MacBook Pro running just usually screen off sleeping.
Possible or no?

Not that I have found. The device that has the mouse/keyboard/trackpad linked by bluetooth has to be awake. You do not need to be logged in but it has to be awake.

Is there an easy way to turn off the display on the MacBook without being close to the computer? Only way i can see it working for me
