Fictional CIA assassin Jason Bourne will appear in a fourth film, according to trade newspaper Variety.

It says actor Matt Damon will reprise the lead role in the fourth instalment of the Bourne franchise, with Paul Greengrass directing once again.

It will be the first Bourne film not to be based on the novels of late US author Robert Ludlum, Variety said.
BBC.

Enjoyed the 3 books and the first 3 movies
Looking forward to seeing it

Was any of the films actually based on one of the novels? The first one had a slight similarity, but after that - nothing.

some of my favorite movies. great chase and fight scenes imo. hopefully this one will be just as good.

I've liked the movies even more than the books (which have nothing to do with the movies anyway), so I'm pumped. :D

Matt Damon is so overrated.

I agree - he's rather the same in everything he's in. I preferred his role in the Ocean's movies where he took a back seat to Clooney and Pitt, who can hold the screen better.

Mind you, the Bourne movies are head and shoulders above Bond..

I wish they were more like the books, because the books are fantastic!

Well I guess it could ruin the books if they were really too similar, and the movies are fantastic how they are.

Hmm...

As long as Matt Damon is in it and Paul is directing it then it should be a hit. Hopefully the story doesn't take a dive. Wasn't there only 3 books by the original author?

They're gonna beat a good thing to death.

Sell it to Disney, an you're practically guaranteed it'll be beat to death. They really scrape the bottom of the barrel sometimes. How many Little Mermaid and Cinderella spin offs did they do?

In an ocean of dross the Bourne movies certainly stand out, so a fourth couldn't be a bad thing. As for Damon being the lead role, I think he carries it off pretty naturally. In any case, I think the story carries it more than the actor. A sign of a good story, I guess.

I like the Bourne movies, but I worry they'll ruin the series by going to the well too many times.

I don't think it's fair to make a comparison to Bond, though. Bond is supposed to be campy fun. It's not designed to be taken too seriously. That said I'm not a big Bond fan, although the last one was better than the others.

Bond would smoke little bourn in a movie.

I enjoyed the first 3. But thought that the story was over at the end of the 3rd

Or are they in a cash crunch like the rest of us and need some movie?

I'm still a bond fan at heart. Can't wait for the 14th.

I would say that has historically been the case, especially with Connery and Moore, but Casino Royale raised the bar on Bond movies as far as I'm concerned and I am looking forward to Quantum of Solace.
