University research on people buying iPhones

Hi

I'm doing a university research project into what influences people to buy what they do, specifically when it comes to electronics: phones (iPhone vs Windows Mobile/Blackberry/Nokia/Android) and computers (Mac vs PC). I want to see if there are correlations between this and the purchasing of non technical consumer goods for example washing detergent etc.


With this in mind, is it ok to put up a link to my online questionnaire asking your members to answer? It's 2 pages, but only takes 5 minutes maximum to answer. For anyone interested, there is also a reward of £50 vouchers for a retailer of their choice (transferable into winner's local currency).

I would speak to an admin about posting the link to your questionaire. However, pm me and I will be happy to do this questionaire. I miss those uni days.

Being a newbie here, I'm not entirely sure how to private message on this forum (I've seen it on others). Apologies, I know this is a stupid question :)

Yes you can. Just either go to one of the subforums for feedback, or just flag your post (that ! in a triangle) on the left of your first post. Leave a message and a moderator will get back to you.
 
This sounds like a scam to me. £50 for 5 minutes of answering questions is too good to be true, and in order to get such a "voucher" you would surely be required to give personal information (name, address, etc.) which could be sold. I could be wrong, but that's my first impression.

OP: Assuming you're for real, aren't you going would have a huge self-selection bias with a survey conducted like this? We're all highly-motivated technophiles with a bias toward Apple. Your study won't allow you to draw any valid conclusions about other groups. If you're going to do this, you need either a random sample or a carefully-constructed representative sample.
