Hello everyone. I currently have a jailbroken (but not unlocked) Iphone 3G running OS 3.0 and I would like to UNjailbreak it. I have read previous posts and there appears to be some confusion about weather it will change my broadband ID or something along those lines (which to be honest I don't understand at all). Can anyone tell me if it is safe at this point to unjailbreak, and if I can, how? Thanks for any help!

Restore to 3.0 or 3.0.1
Make sure the restore IPSW of your choosing is on your computer
Click option key + restore button and select chosen IPSW
Choose set up as new phone
Sync back your stuff

If you would have looked there is a tutorial sticky at the top of the list of threads.

thanks liz..

i saw that sticky, however I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't affect my "broadband" that I had been reading about. Other sites have been saying that if it changes my broadband that my phone will PERMANENTLY be unjailbroken. I may or may not decide to re-jailbreak at a later date, so I wasn't sure if this was a rumor or not, so I figured I would ask first. thanks for your help...

Your BaseBand (not broadband) will only be updated if you choose 3.1, so this is why I said, choose the correct restore IPSW.

And your phone will not be permanently un-jailbroken as you can re-JB at any time, but will not be able to be unlocked.

I urge you to get a step by step tutorial as it sounds like you need one.

okay, I understand everything, except the last step of the tutorial.....are you saying that I should choose a generic "iphone 3.0" ISPW (i d/l'ed one from a user upload website) when I get to the "restore from the back of:" option, or am I safe to choose my last backup since I am still on 3.0? thanks for all of your help thus far

The IPSW's should already be stored on your computer, unless you updated to iTunes 9 which now deletes all the IPSW files except the most current.

Make sure you get the correct IPSW for the firmware version you want and for your phone, as each phone model has different files

I suggest you choose set up as new phone or some JB quirks will come back if you choose the backup choice (like battery percentage, and maybe carrier modifications)

Once done, Sync back your stuff.

Edit: Use a "safe" site to get your IPSW so it's not been altered by someone. Scroll down to get correct IPSW These IPSW links are directly to Apple servers.
