iPhone Unjailbreakme on 6.1.2

After reading numerous posts on the Internet dropouts with the new jailbreak. I chose to ignore it and went ahead and did it anyway as I thought I did my 6.1.1 upgrade from itunes which was the right way to upgrade as per suggestions.

After Jailbreak this is what I Observed.
Consistant 4G dropouts
LTE would not stay connected for more than 10 secs. Note: My wife's clean iPhone 5 would connect
Phone froze. I've never seen the iPhone 5 freeze.
After Reboot, Springboard crashed. Restarting the springboard fixed it.

Last night I did a DFU, went to 6.1.2 and installed all my data back and the phone is very STABLE back again.

Note: I did not have any thing installed after Cydia. It was just plain cydia.

The main reasons for my Jailbreak earlier was

• NoAccessorySplash (Not Needed since 6.1)
• Tethering (AT&T gives it now with my Plan)
• Facetime over 3g (AT&T gives it now with my Plan)
• Unlock in the early days (Its cheap to get it done on eBay)
• I do believe sbsettings and lockinfo is a nice to have but not a requirement unless Jailbreak becomes stable.

Sorry to hear you (and it certainly seems like many others) are having stability issues. My 4S has been jail broken on 6.1, 6.1.1, and 6.1.2. Each version of iOS 6 that I've had jailbroken has been as stable as any other jailbreak over the past 3 years. I guess I'm lucky. Sorry bro. That sucks you had that experience.

I guess I could do a fresh install but when there was nothing pressing I needed I choose to stay away for now. I do like the voicemail forward option but not a biggie. It might be something to do with the iPhone 5?

I do like Mame but that is there on appstore with griddle and my trusted iCade. Now my iPad is jailbroken and I am thinking of buying one of the iCade machines.

Do a clean restore donot restore from a backup set up as new boom.A jailbreak would not affect or do any damage to antennas or the baseband chip

Yea, I've been having odd dropouts with all versions of the iOS6 evasion JBs.

Things fly for a while then suddenly my apps lock up while trying to contact various servers and whatnot - mainly just the internet-based apps.

Happens several times with the Google Chrome app and the BF3 Battlelog apps, in particular. Although even my App Store Update tab freezes up and I lose Mail "fetches" too. It's literally all over the place, but not consistently.

Sucks because I love the tweaks with Jailbreaking. But I need a steady connection too!

Hmm... sounds like the most probable cause, is some legacy data from your iTunes backup is causing issues with the jailbreak (which happened to me once long ago).

The best way to verify that is the culprit, is to do a DFU restore to the latest iOS to bring it back to stock, setting it up temporarily as a new phone on iTunes, and jailbreak with evasi0n 1.4. Run it for a day or two and see if you're experiencing any of the same issues. If not, then its certainly some crud in your backup, which means you're best to reinstall all of your iTunes apps and settings manually. Yeah, that would be a slight pain-in-the-rear, but using the opportunity during an upgrade to clean out the OS cobwebs of any computing device is always a good thing.

I've never had an issue with jailbreaking being unstable...

I never have issues w/ a jb that have not been officially announced by the hackers that made them.

My procedure always is DFU mode, restore as NEW w/new fw and never use backups. I know is a pain, but at the end is as fresh as it can be.

Oh and if you're using a custom ipsw to preserve and older baseband that could affect your signal strength.I know it did on my iP4,though im not entirely sure thats what you did.Too lazy to re-read

No, I'm not.
All of my phones are IMEI unlocked so I never have to worry about basebands or firmware changes.

There is a one signal bar cosmetic bug when using basebands mismatched to firmware, but it is cosmetic only.
And Ultrasn0w used to "fix" it.

So are mine IMEI unlocks are better but for some countries its hard to get.I doubt we will see another Ultrasn0w unlock method

ok so I tried this suggestion on my wife's iPhone5. Totally a different device. Did a DFU restore. Just got the contacts through outlook exchange sync and nothing else. no pictures nothing. This morning her springboard crashed. Her internet at home was stable as it was on Wifi. When she went out, the music streaming app would constantly drop which it does not. During Lunch I put both the phones side by side and went on LTE and started streaming music.

Her phone went off 3 times and mine didn't go off once. I tried this way to eliminate the device issue as I have two ip5's.

I also downloaded the latest on the ev site. Its ok, I'll live without my jailbreak. I'm not much of a customizer and keep things simple typically.

Now I would really be annoyed as I really needed the NoAccessorySplash which is not needed. Today I tested gridlee with my iCade with Wonderboy and that worked. Just wanted to update the group with my findings.

Sounds like you followed the advice to DFU restore and although you've probably given up, one piece of advice: the moment you synced it for just the contacts (as harmless that might seem), you just introduced an additional variable that makes it difficult to discern whether the jailbreak itself was the real culprit... or for example, whether the PC you used was the issue. Lots of possibilities remain, but I suspect from your last comment that you've moved on from jailbreaking. Enjoy your iPhone 5s, regardless. ;-)

The PC Used is a Mac on both instances. The mac has a newly rebuild from the cd about a month back. The contacts were google contacts and phone was setup as a new phone. I'm surprised few of you all are having this issue. I'll give it another shot sometime soon when I really need a jailbreak application. Now My iPad is jailbroken and since it does not have a sim, I cannot comment on the network drop outs, but the iPAd hasn't crashed once. Its just the iPhone 5

Jailbreak is stable. Jailbreak doesn't brick your phone. Jailbreak doesn't drain your battery. Jailbreak doesn't slow down your phone.
The crappy tweaks, mobile substrate and winterboard causes all of those problems.

Read the whole thread. I've clearly stated my experience. I am in no way making any judgement on jailbreak but was interested to hear from the community on their experiences. From what I found doing a clean dfu and jailbreak does not cause issues but in my case it did cause service issues.

I cannot pin point what is lacking. it may very well be the network in my area is week or something I don't know. Jailbreak was stable and I used it till 5.1 on the 4S.

Experience. I have jailbroken more than 100 iOS devices. (Back in 2008 and 2009, Jailbreak was kinda hard for a normal user to do so this was my part time "job" after school. I also had pages on local HUBS & Forums with my "services" )
Besides that, in 2010 I was a beta tester for redsn0w.
Now, I write articles about jailbreaking and iOS hacks on the romanian Mac & iOS forum. (www.macuser.ro)
This makes me pretty much an expert.

Hey if you're happy stock then you dont need to explain your self or disagree with others that like to JB.
Its your choice. Hope you dont think that the millions of users that Jailbroke their idevices all have the same issues as you.
Jailbreaking is not for everyone.

I'm having the same issues ..... On 6.1.1 my battery was draining crazy fast .. Updated to 6.1.2 and re jailbroke and now my data is not stable at all... My iphone 5 goes to 3G .... When I went into settings to cellular my LTE was gone , it only gave me the option to turn my 3G on or off... I'm using a iphone 5....I restored earlier and re jB and everything is working for now but I have a feeling it will do it again. If it does I'm done with it

Jailbreaking is not for everyone.

Applejuiced, I've seen you around for a while and didn't expect such a comment from you. Earlier a kid rants about his experience from school.
Now you go on and say Jailbreaking isint for a faint heart.
As my resume goes, I too have jailbroken at least a 100 phones. 'and I'm not in School. I used to unlock using ultrasn0w and so on.

The purpose of this thread is to mainly understand if others are having similar issues and if any workaround or fixes exist. Now its clear that a few are having such issues and most don't.

@loskickking23: Interesting that you have a similar issue. Let me know how it goes with your second attempt at it. If it stays stable. I'll give it another shot. I have spent a bit in cydia with lockinfo and so on and would like to have sbsettings etc.
