Hope this is right place, anyway my MacBook pro9.2 running Ventura had an icon on the dock right to the right of the finder icon. I think it might have been an app launcher? I don’t know but if it is how do I get it back?

The dock shows running apps or apps that have been pinned to the dock. The icon could have been from any app on your system. There are some system icons such as trash and downloads as well.

Did you use it? Seems like if you were using it, you'd know what it does, and what to call it. If you were not using it, why do you want to get it back? No sense taking up Dock space for an icon that you don't use.

I have never used it and don't like items in my dock space. Only have programs I use a lot there, have applications in hot corner to access rest, but that process can be streamlined if this app "launchpad" does what I think it does. Everyone (I guess) likes to streamline actions wherever they can. I know that is something I am always aiming to do.

You're probably talking about Launchpad. Open your Applications folder and drag the icon back to the dock.
Thank you, yes is indeed "Launchpad", but unfortunately it is not in my applications any more. I remove where able or move all unused apps to folder to clean apps for easier access, guess that was one. Will have to try and find app somewhere, already checked my NAS where I move all trash items I don't really want to delete but don't want on my system.

Have got to say sometimes I overthink thing to my detriment, ( I am retired engineer) after seeing name of app I went on search and realized something, I can (and did) rearrange apps in my apps folder, or screen I pull up using hot corners, and was able to satisfy my requirements by putting the apps I wanted first, my problem was a lot of my most used apps that I open from there were on second page which I didn't like. Now they are right there. I use top left hand hot corner for apps so when I open apps they are right there where cursor is so supper simple and easy. Thanks for all your responses and help.
