Just found in my desk what appears to be a new ipod shuffle. The difference from my old one is that this one has a narrow black band on the bottom - about 3/8" wide - and no visible way to connect this thing to the computer - actually no kind of connection is visible. It is white. I have no idea how it got here because I didn't buy it. Total mystery.

Can someone tell me what I have and how to use it, please. Thanks for any help.

That is not an iPod. That is an Apple Remote. Its used to control Intell based Macs and newer G5 iMacs.

Well!!! Glad to know what it is -- thanks. Now I need to learn why I have and how to use it - hmmm.

Yeah this is the second gen of the unknown iPod...

Nah seriously though, you can use it with your Mac to control front row, and when your watching movies with the Apple DVD player :)
