What is this and why does it show up on my iPhone. I don’t know or use any Asian languages on my devices.

I don’t remember. I dont use that many apps, so this could be an Apple app. I’m pretty sure the text under the black bar says, “stores near me,” if that helps.

What does the Chinese/Japanese/? say?

I don’t know what it says but I agree with your reading of the text. That’s why I didn’t recognize the app and asked.

Conveniently, that means the conversion between simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese. Why it appears in that textbox is mystery to me.

I think....

Apple Store App > Search > Stores near me > press and hold search bar to bring up black option bar.

Does anybody else see this in the Apple Store App > Search ?

Ok. So, is this a feature or a bug?
I can’t imagine any reason why non-Chinese users would need this by default.
