I have a 3G 64gig on ATT unlimited plan... 2 days ago I was on 3g trying to download Prince of Persia from the Itunes store and I get a message saying that I cannot download a file larger than 20mg.... WTF???!!!! What's the point of unlimited data if I have a limit to my download size. This was the whole point of paying extra in the first place, so I can download apps on the go.

FRUSTRATING!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

LOL that has always been there. Why would u download it on 3G its so huge and would take forever.

Sorry dude. It's always been a well-known fact that you can't download anything larger than 20mb in the App Store while on 3G. It used to be 10mb. Either download it through a WiFi connection or jailbreak and use 3G Unrestrictor.

Because we go boating & I travel in the car allot, plus... the GPS app I use allows me to download detailed maps on the fly (but they can be very big).

The question is why wouldn't I want to download on the go? Downloaded Scrabble while sitting in the middle of a lake drinking beers on the boat, took 5 minutes. :)

Bummer, I actually didn't know that (even though I have had iphones since the 2g). The ipad is such a great travel companion it begs to be used on the fly as an entertainment device.

Well good to know. Thanks.

Ummm I will take a stab at that. He would do that because WiFi isn't available at the time. Where I live I don't have any internet access at all and only get Edge. There are times I would be willing to wait 'forever' to get something rather than not have it ever.

Apple should allow carriers to set their own download limits as some carriers like mine do not care. they charge on a data used basis so are quite happy to let me download if Apple would let me.

I wonder if I can tether to my MBP with my iPhone and it will allow a download this size or will it just say I am on data still?

get the 3G unrestrictor, woderful thing to have it and unrestrict the youtube too! what a huge difference

After thinking about it I am pretty sure the tethering work around wouldn't work. So the latest work around I came up with is to tether to my MBP and then make an ad hoc network and from there using that to make the iPad think it is on WiFi.

This seems somewhat ridiculous but should work. LOL Now I found a reason why I truly need all 3 devices. I love Apple but they always make me do some stupid work around.

As far as unrestrictor goes I don't really want to JB. Maybe I will bite the bullet and do it at some point though. Apple catering to AT&T and setting limits on devices world wide to appease them is really annoying. Apple seems to think all users live in urban centers with really fast internet available everywhere.

I realise my case is a bit unusual but it is frustrating at times.

the only way around the 3G limit assplosion is jailbreaking.

JB'ing the iphone and installing MyWi will allow a tethered device to correct for the 3G limit.

I haven't yet tried activating MyWi and downloading more than 10mb directly on the iphone though to see what happens, but I think it would work anyway :D

What I find kind of funny about the download size limit is that I travel a lot for work, and the majority of hotels I stay at have really slow wifi. 3G is usually at least twice as fast as the hotels wifi.
