10 years ago, when AT&T was AT&T, I got a promotional plan... unlimited minutes + text messages for $99 a month. We've kept the contract, extended it for YEARS, even with Cingular... they had to honor it.

I just bought an iPhone, and I was wondering... do I really need to be setup for another two years? Can I add the iPhone data plan+unlimited text ON TOP OF my existing plan?

I thought I read someone say that you can pop out the SIM and switch?

$20/month more adds the iPhone unlimited data plan to your existing plan. You have to sign up for 2yr contract when you activate the iphone.

You can swap the SIM out of the iPhone, but only the SIM that can with the iPhone will work.

A NEW contract, or extend my current?

call and ask, if you don't like the answer call back and ask someone else, i'm sure you'll get a different answer every time:rolleyes:

you should be able to extend your existing plan

Neither, it overides your current contract and makes a new contract for 2 years. \

For example
if you have 8 months left, now you have 2 years.
if you have 15 months left, now you have 2 years.

The rate plan for your voice plan should be unchanged. They just add $20/month for iphone data. If you have a data plan, it will dropped.

I had an old BLUE PLAN (before Cingular merge) and they forced me to start a new account. I received a message during activation that said Your current AT&T plan is not compatible with iphone.

I lost a lot of minutes. I lost unlimited n/w starting at 7pm. Now I have the iphone 5000 n/w starting at 9. I suppose I could complain when they are less busy.

I am under the same plan, and have fought tooth and nail to keep it.

Please let us know what you find out. I haven't activated my phone yet...
